Charles Tournemire (1870-1939) Who replaced César Franck as an organist at the post from Sainte Clothilde, is quite well known today by the organists for his compositions for organ... but he did produce much more than that... chamber music (trio an quartet) symphony, and even operas... His music is deep and oftens dark, the harmony very rich, and even somptuous... This Sonate-Poème is in one movement, and follows more the form of the thoughts and ideas than any predefinite musical form... This had been recorded in a concert at Bruxelles in 1982, and the pianist was Marie -Madeleine Petit (she was also the pianist in the reference recording of the « quartet for the end of time » by Messiaen (Erato)

But, unfortunately for the moment, the texts are still only in French (but music goes over that border isn't it !).
